Keeping Your Dog Cool: Summer Grooming Tips
22 February 2026 · Frankie & Paws
Summer brings longer days and warmer weather — and for many dogs, that means more time outdoors. Here are a few simple ways to keep your companion comfortable when the temperature rises.
Brush regularly
Regular brushing helps remove loose fur and prevents matting, which can trap heat. A well-groomed coat allows better air circulation close to the skin.
Choose the right time for baths
Bathe your dog when it's cool — early morning or evening. Use lukewarm water, and make sure they're fully dry before heading outside.
Watch the paws
Pavement and sand can get very hot. Test the ground with your hand — if it's too hot for you, it's too hot for their paws.
