How to use Collagen

Our Collagen is 100% dehydrated beef bone broth — a single ingredient superfood. It has a rich, meaty taste that most dogs absolutely love. This one tends to be the easiest to get even the fussiest eaters excited about.

Sprinkled on food: The simplest method. Sprinkle the correct number of scoops over wet or dry food. The fine powder coats kibble nicely and adds a savoury flavour dogs go mad for.

As a bone broth: Stir the powder into warm (not boiling) water to create a fresh bone broth. Use approximately 100–150ml of water per 2 scoops. This makes a nourishing, hydrating drink you can serve alongside their meal or on its own.

As a food topper with broth: Make a thinner broth (more water, same scoops) and pour it over dry food. This softens the kibble slightly, adds flavour and moisture, and ensures your dog laps up every last bit.

As a hydration boost: On hot days or after exercise, make a diluted broth and offer it as a drink. It's far more appealing to most dogs than plain water and supports hydration when they need it most.

When to give it:
- Daily, with any meal. Collagen works cumulatively — the joint and skin benefits build over time with consistent daily use. Most owners notice improvements in coat condition within 2–3 weeks, with joint benefits building over 4–6 weeks.
- Morning or evening — doesn't matter. Pick whichever meal is easiest and stick with it.
- After exercise: A bone broth after a long walk or active play session supports recovery and rehydration.

Tips:
- Don't use boiling water for the broth — let the kettle cool for a few minutes first. Very hot water can affect the protein structure.
- The broth will gel slightly if refrigerated (just like homemade bone broth). This is normal — it's the collagen. Warm it gently to return to liquid.
- Makes an excellent base for frozen enrichment treats in summer — pour the broth into a lick mat or Kong and freeze.
- Can be safely combined with True Calm and Biome Balance. All three can go on the same meal.
- Store the scoop in a Frankie & Paws Scoop Tin to keep things tidy.

For senior dogs: Collagen is particularly beneficial for older dogs. The natural collagen supports ageing joints, while the protein content helps maintain muscle mass. Consider pairing with True Calm for dogs that become anxious as they age.
